What's New:
Today, DerivaDEX will begin implementing changes across all comms platforms. Some of the more notable changes will be:
- On-chain activity gating for some Discord channels.
- Monthly update posts on DerivaDEX engineering and technical contributions.
- Telegram announcement channel. Subscribe now.
The goal of these changes is to streamline support, provide an easier way for both traders and governance participants to get information, and increase overall DerivaDEX documentation.
There are also some important updates expected for both testnet and mainnet.
Upcoming Testnet Competition
Details for the competition will be shared shortly, but there is a planned testnet competition that will be taking place in October.
The competition will require users to complete the KYC onboarding process. This ensures that users can transition easily to mainnet, as well as provides a mechanism for ensuring prizes are only distributed to participants in eligible jurisdictions.
This process is also expected to significantly improve sybil-related problems often found affecting the fairness of testnet competitions.
To be notified when registrations open for testnet, please subscribe to this annoucements channel or sign up for emails here.
Note: Mainnet is expected to be initially capped to 1000 users. Eligible testnet participants will be pre-qualified for mainnet.
Mainnet Upgrade Proposal
A mainnet upgrade proposal that will begin the process of user onboarding is expected to be made this year. The DerivaDEX mainnet platform has been live for one year, and has been a valuable source of mainnet testing for network stability, upgrade procedures, and system longevity.
Additional work has been undertaken this year to ensure that when user onboarding begins, it is executed in a durable, forward-looking fashion. This approach is informed by the increasing maturity of the decentralized finance landscape, as well as by the goal of full integration with both legacy financial systems as well as other decentralized protocols.
Over the next few weeks, stay tuned for further information about new community roles in Discord, onboarding for the testnet competition, and information about the forthcoming mainnet proposal.
